Welcome to the 2011 Southwest Conference on Christianity and Literature and to Hardin-Simmons University The Conference on Christianity and Literature The Conference on Christianity and Literature is an interdisciplinary society dedicated to exploring the relationships between Christianity and literature. Organized formally in 1956, CCL is dedicated to both scholarly excellence and collegial exchange and includes hundreds of members from a variety of academic institutions and religious traditions from the United States, Canada, and more than a dozen other countries. CCL publishes a quarterly journal, Christianity and Literature, sponsors regional conferences, recognizes literary achievement in annual awards, and offers travel grants to scholars. Hardin-Simmons University Founded in 1891 by a dedicated group of ministers, ranchers, and merchants, HardinSimmons University continues its commitment to developing the mind and nurturing the spiritual life of its students. Affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas since 1941, HSU provides an academically challenging undergraduate education based on a liberal arts foundation, and advances scholarly growth by offering specialized graduate and professional degree programs.
